PRESENTATION OF LABA 2024 LIVE PROJECTS

What is LABA?

LABA is a Laboratory of Jewish Art and Culture that brings together artists from all backgrounds and disciplines to study classic Jewish texts, experiment, and explore the future of Jewish art and culture. LABA is a non-religious study house whose goal is to function as an international incubator of creativity and expand the boundaries of what can constitute Jewish art and what its texts can teach. We incorporate secular literature, music, and art to help us better see the eternal and radical elements of these texts. LABA Barcelona belongs to a network together with New York, Buenos Aires, Berlin and San Francisco Bay.

Each year, LABA selects a group of up to ten fellows for a year-long study, focusing on a chosen topic. Through the LABA Fellowship, fellows are provided with an open and creative environment for the reflective study of the rich literary and intellectual tradition of Judaism. These creative explorations inspire his art and ideas, which are featured at LABALive Events. LabaLive Barcelona! November 23 and 24, 2024!

Over the last year, LABA Barcelona 2024 fellows have studied ancient Jewish texts around the theme “NIGHT”. The stories and ideas they have collected have crystallized into new samples of art and culture. Join us to experience these new creative works!
