Tammuz 17, Shiva'ah Asar B'Tammuz: a 3-week period is inaugurated mourning that concludes on Tisha B'Av (9 Av). The 17th of Tammuz is remembered that on the same date, in the year 70 CE, the Roman army succeeded in bringing down the Jerusalem walls. Three weeks later they destroyed the Temple.

During the 17th of Tammuz a partial fast is observed: from dawn (approximately one hour before sunrise) until dusk (minimum 25 minutes after sunset). This year on the 17th of Tammuz falls on July 6 (Thursday), so the fast starts at 4:25 in the morning and ends at 22:04.
