Lionel Sclaroff's experience in Jerusalem
We are very happy to share the experience of Lionel Sclaroff, a member of our Community, who has participated in the Machon Masorti 2023 in Jerusalem. Thank you Lionel for your time and dedication.
From June 4 to 9, I have participated in Jerusalem together with representatives of the communities Masorti Olami from all over Europe of the final stage of the seminar for future community leaders who began on November 21, 2022 and ended on June 8, 2023. The program has had as objectives:
• Improve the way communities are led
• Learn in community
• Strengthen ties between community leaders
They have been days of intense work, learning and enriching exchange with each and every one of the participants highlighting the following activities:
• Talk with Rabbi Mauricio Balter (Executive Director Masorti Olami) dedicated to highlighting What are our values and positions as Masorti Jews and what differentiates us from other currents?
• Shacharit followed by a study session with Rabbi Joel Levy.
• Jewish Leadership and Planet Earth with Nigel Savage, Founder and CEO of Hazon
• Visit to the World Zionist Organization and chat with Dr Yizhar Hess (Vice Chair of WZO & MERCAZ Olami Senior Representative) on the current political situation in Israel and the position of the movement with respect to it
• Reflections with Marina Goutman (JDC Buncher Program Director & Country Liaison for Portugal and Finland, JDC Europe, Africa & Asia)

• Visit to the Schechter Institute and talk about the fight for religious pluralism and other challenges of the Movement in Israel with Rakefet Ginsberg (Executive Director of Masorti Israel)
I would like to emphasize that it has been more than pleasant to personally meet the seminarians with whom It was a diverse group in every way. These are people who really want to work. for their communities, for the movement in general and for building bridges with the rest of Europe. I have had the pleasure of praying, studying, reflecting and sharing with people rich in culture and good heart.
It goes without saying that I am enormously grateful to the community and the movement for giving me the opportunity to participate in this seminar.
