JERUSALEM INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
On July 18, the 41st edition of this festival began where, despite being somewhat smaller than previous years, 150 films from 40 countries are presented for 9 days.
Radio Sefarad interviewed Daniella Tourgeman, artistic director of the Jerusalem Jewish Film Festival and director of International Relations of the Jerusalem International Film Festival about the peculiarity of this edition, given that it is celebrated less than a year after the massacre of 7 October perpetrated by Hamas.
Precisely, the organizers have considered “what is the role that cinema and culture play at this time. If we have the right to summon him with this tragic reality. But life goes on in Israel, and it is important to maintain this tradition: we must pay tribute to Israeli cinema and its filmmakers who are sometimes questioned or boycotted abroad, give hope, and also remember that cinema is about dialogue even if it is not easy". The Festival Honor Award will go to actress Jennifer Jason Leigh.
