Letter on High Holidays 5785 from our Rabbi Irene Muzás Calpe

Dear partners, friends,

Shana Tova uMetuka! Just a few days away from starting a new year, I want to wish you a happy and sweet year 5785. The year we leave behind has been one of the most difficult we have faced as a Jewish community in recent decades. We have needed the sweetness of honey more than ever to be able to cope with the bitter pill and the deep sadness that has overcome us since last October 7.

Even in these difficult times and thanks to the efforts of all of you, we have participated in very special moments in our ATID community: more than eleven boys and girls have prepared or are preparing for their bar/bat mitzva, we have begun to train adults to celebrate their bar/bat mitzvah, we have managed to have a sukkah in our outdoor community, we have celebrated a very special Purim where families found a moment of joy and humor, we have welcomed friends from Israel, we have trained new readers of Torah, we have celebrated the first beit din masortí in our synagogue, we have established a permanent Mishnah study group, we have shared a multitudinous community machaneh, we have published our first siddur, etc. All this and much more despite all the inconveniences and barriers we have encountered, although none of this would have been possible without your contribution and collaboration, especially that of all the volunteers.

That is why we ask you, one more year on High Holidays, to continue collaborating in the construction of our community, representative of a plural and diverse traditional Judaism, with your tzedakah. To continue building and growing we need your contribution, to turn new projects into reality, and to continue training our young people and adults, the future and yet present of our community.

Thank you very much for your continued efforts to build our community,

Leshana Tova Tikatevu sees Tejatenu!
Rabbi Irene Muzás Calpe
