Commemorative event for the victims of Kristallnacht
On Monday, November 11, our Rabbi Irene Muzas Calpe and the vice president of Atid, Paula Melamed participated in the commemorative event organized by Democratic Memory, at Barcelona City Hall in memory of the Night of Broken Glass (Kristallnacht) and the International Day against Anti-Semitism. The ceremony was held in the emblematic Chronicles Hall of the City Hall and brought together a large number of attendees.
Representatives of various institutions, including religious leaders like our Rabbi, shared this moving moment, highlighting the importance of preserving historical memory and strengthening our collective commitment against anti-Semitism and all forms of intolerance.
As an active member of our community, who attended, mentioned; “It was an emotional moment to remember that my grandfather was arrested and sent to a concentration camp that day and that, the next day, my father went to see the state of the synagogue, destroyed, where he had celebrated his bar mitzvah just a few weeks before. “Nothing was ever the same.”
