14 B'NAI MITZVA IN ATID
Samara Yeo's Bat Mitzva on December 14 was the fourteenth Bar/t Mitzva celebrated at ATID from December 2023 to December 2024. A record for our kehillah. Fourteen boys and girls decided to train during the year 2023 and 2024 to be able to present themselves as adult Jews to their family, friends and community. The important thing about this fact is not only that it is a record in the number of B'nai Mitzva, but also because of the commitment that most of them have acquired with their community.
Not only have they been trained to celebrate this important moment, but many of them have decided to continue the work of ledor vador (from generation to generation) with their community, and teach what they learned during their bar and bat mitzva training to other young people in the community. Thus we are proud to share with all of you that four of these boys and girls continue to officiate religious services, not only before other young people, but before the entire community; how one of them has decided to teach other kids how to conduct religious services; and how seven of them are part of the NOAM youth movement, voluntarily dedicating their free time to the formation of the Jewish identity of other boys who will soon make their Bar or Bat Mitzvah. From the ATID community and from the rabbinate we want to congratulate all these boys and girls who with so much effort have learned to read the Torah, to lead religious services, to share before a large audience their wishes and hopes for the future and their commentary of the Torah, acquiring their own voice to be able to teach the next generations the value of Jewish identity.
