Lighting of Hanukkah 5785 candles in Plaça Sant Jaume in Barcelona

The Atid community had the honor of participating in the lighting of the Hanukkah candles in the emblematic Plaza Sant Jaume, an event that brought together people from various communities to celebrate the festival of lights together. This significant event not only commemorated the miracle of Hanukkah, but also reaffirmed the spirit of unity and resilience that characterizes our tradition. The square, illuminated by the great Hanukkah and decorated with festive lights, was the perfect setting for this special gathering.

During the event, the participation of Rabbi Libersohn, from Chabad Lubavitch Barcelona, who led the lighting of the candles, as well as the presence of Silvia Leida, our president, and Rabbi Irene Muzás, who proudly represented Atid, was also present. Tal Itzhakov, spokesperson for the Embassy of Israel in Spain, was also present and gave meaningful words about the importance of the holiday and its message of hope and renewal.

One of the most emotional moments was the lighting of the candles, accompanied by traditional songs that filled the atmosphere with warmth and spirituality. Each lit candle represented a reminder of the power of faith and perseverance in the face of adversity. Atid's participation in this event was a testament to our desire to share these universal values with society at large.

With this candle lighting, Atid not only celebrated Hanukkah, but also reaffirmed its commitment to be a beacon of light in our society. We thank all who participated and contributed to making this a memorable night. May the light of Hanukkah continue to inspire us to build a more just and peaceful world for all.
